How to email via Tor with GPG/PGP

Okay so we covered PMs that was the easy part, the sad thing is most people won't respond to a simple PM, seeing as any person with fingers or the capability to use some sort of blunt object to bash a keyboard can use a PM service on tor not to mention can intercept and read them I.E the mutha fuckin FEDS. We being internet ninjas as we are dislike the FEDs in our business, so low and behold we came up with a much more devious approach to this problem GPG and PGP also known "as asymmetric public keys"  I'll start this explanation the way I was taught to understand it, because if you can't understand the thought process, you will not be able to use or abuse these. So look at it like this, Johnny has a bunch of open padlocks attached to unbreakable carbon composite boxes, now what our friend Johnny does is he hands the open boxes out to his friends, once Mark gets his box, he writes a message and places it in the box he received from Johnny. He then closes the box, and send it through a series of people eventually ending up back in Johnny's hands. Now why this works is because Johnny is the only one with the key to this magic unbreakable box, so once all traces of who sent it are long gone Johnny can safely open the box read the message and send one back in the open box that Mark attached. Now if that wasn't a good enough explanation, you will probably never succeed at this, but feel free to try. First download and install this http://ppgp.sourceforge.net/ next go to http://jhiwjjlqpyawmpjx.onion/ and create a TorMail account, now if all you want is simple email you can stop right here. If you crave more security then you want to open up PortablePGP, it will ask you for email, username, and a password, please for your sake make it a 26 minimal with special characters, don't be stupid here. once that is done you will see a screen giving you the options to encrypt, de-crypt, sign, and key ring. Encrypt allows you to encrypt your message in someones key *box from the analogy* to do this you go to key ring, you find their PGP or GPG public block and you save it as a text file, you then import it to your key ring, if done correctly a new name and email should be added to your list, from there you encrypt a message to them, and paste it either too there email, or on a forum, and only they can read it, they can then send you a message back that only you can read and de-crypt. I will be uploading a video of how to do this soon to help ease with the confusion,. gl. * note the program in the video is not the same but it may help explain the basics, ask around or google for more help, or email me/comment*

TorPM - All the cool kids are doing it

Okay class in this post I'm going to educate you all on TorPm (or Tor Private Message for those who aren't tech smart) Now although it's not as fancy as Facebook chat, it will allow you to communicate with other on the Tor network easily and anonymously. First things first type in http://4eiruntyxxbgfv7o.onion/pm/ to your url bar, or if you're smart you'll copy and paste it, next click on sign up, enter a user name and a password and the little code, and that's it, your in, log on and you can pm other people on Tor and receive your messages there, also quick side note i recommend bookmarking all these sites as with cookies and what not disabled you'll have no history when you close Firefox.

Alright now I'm in the network, where do I go?

Well first things first, while in the network "Hidden Services as they are called don't have url's like you are normally used too. Firstly they will be mostly scrambled letters and numbers, secondly they will end in .onion. A good place to start is to go to TorDir - link list, the url for TorDir is http://dppmfxaacucguzpc.onion/index.php?sid=6df260d411b6571475c2957f558b0352 When you go on the TorDir you will find sub forums for everything from books to search engines. Speaking of search engines head to TORCH to search for many things available on the dark interwebs http://xmh57jrzrnw6insl.onion/ And finally the best starting point would have to be the hiddenwiki the link is http://kpvz7ki2v5agwt35.onion/wiki/index.php/Main_Page and it is the best place to start once you are in the network. *Note all these links will only work if connected to Tor*

Now I know What Tor is, how do I connect to it?

Well the first step is to stop, take a breathe, and think if you are truly prepared to make this step. I personally warn people that once you are connected there is no going back, the things you will see, and the people you will meet will stay with you forever. Now after heading that warning if you still insist on making the first step to disconnection from the world you know there are a few ways to start. First things first, there is a browser bundle available from the Tor main page that will allow you to connect and access tor quickly and easily, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR THE SERIOUS PERSON. It will connect you and you will be safe, but you will not be 100% safe, and believe me you want that. However if you just want to connect and look around a bit head on over to this link and follow the instructions provided. https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en
Or watch this quick video also provided on the page above.
Now for the person who is more concerned about protecting themselves the process is a little more complicated, but not too bad. First go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/ and download and install firefox, if you can't do this with out a tutorial, well you shouldn't be on the internet anyway. Next you want to go to this link https://www.torproject.org/torbutton/index.html.en and download and install the tor button to firefox. *Note- it helps if you go to the link in firefox* Now that that is taken care of you need the Vidalia Control panel. Vidalia basically allows you to connect to or disconnect from the network using a GUI interface. You can download it from this link https://www.torproject.org/projects/vidalia.html.en Now if you have a mac or Linux based system I recommend downloading Arm, it is a way to monitor your Tor system stats and usage. https://www.torproject.org/projects/arm.html.en * If you have Windows skip this step* Now all this is taken care of watch this video
When you have done all necessary steps go to this link to make sure you are connected http://torstatus.blutmagie.de/ On the next post I will show where to start once connected.

First things first - What is Tor?

Hmm, what is Tor you ask? Tor was originally designed with the government in mind. It was created to route government communication through secure connections, residing below and in the background of the internet. Today it is used by many different types of people from occultists, to anarchists, to hackers, and even, as much as I hate to say, pedophiles. Tor is basically like the underground railroad of information, it allows individuals and groups access to one another through secret means not detected by anyone but who they want to know. The reason people use Tor is mainly to protect them selves from "big brother", because if you don't believe he is watching every time you Google search you are sadly mistaken. Here are some pictorial diagrams of how Tor protects you.

These pictures were obtained from https://www.torproject.org/about/overview.html.en and I personally recommend you visiting there for further reference.
